Asahi Shimbun (朝日新聞code: ja is deprecated ) adalah surat kabar nasional Jepang yang diterbitkan oleh penerbit The Asahi Shimbun. Surat kabar ini pertama kali terbit pada tahun 1874. Oplahnya sekitar 8 juta eksemplar[1] yang menjadikannya harian beroplah terbesar nomor dua di Jepang setelah Yomiuri Shimbun. Harian ini terbit dua kali sehari, edisi pagi dan sore.
Asahi Shimbun memiliki stasiun televisi/radio Asahi Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) di Osaka. Sementara itu, TV Asahi Corporation memiliki All-Nippon News Network (ANN) dan TV Asahi.
Asahi Shimbun pertama kali terbit di Osaka pada bulan Januari 1879. Bantuan modal diterima Asahi dari pemerintah dan Bank Mitsui pada tahun 1882. Sebagai perluasan usaha ke Tokyo, Asahi membeli surat kabar Mesamashi Shimbun pada bulan Juli 1888 dan mengganti namanya menjadi Tokyo Asahi Shimbun. Tahun berikutnya, surat kabar Asahi yang diterbitkan di Osaka diganti namanya menjadi Osaka Asahi Shimbun.
Pada tahun 1915, Osaka Asahi Shimbun untuk pertama kalinya menerbitkan edisi sore. Pada tahun yang sama, Asahi mulai menjadi sponsor Kejuaraan Bisbol Sekolah Menengah Pertama (sekarang Kejuaraan Nasional Bisbol Sekolah Menengah Atas). Pada tahun 1940, surat kabar Asahi terbitan Osaka dan terbitan Tokyo keduanya menanggalkan nama kota tempat terbit, dan kembali memakai nama Asahi Shimbun sejak tahun 1940.
