Agresi

Dalam psikologi dan ilmu sosial lainnya, pengertian agresi merujuk pada perilaku yang dimaksudkan untuk membuat objeknya mengalami bahaya atau kesakitan. Agresi dapat dilakukan secara verbal atau fisik. Perilaku yang secara tidak sengaja menyebabkan bahaya atau sakit bukan merupakan agresi. Pengrusakan barang dan perilaku destruktif lainnya juga termasuk dalam definisi agresi. Agresi tidak sama dengan ketegangan.

Jenis agresi

Agresi adalah fenomena kompleks yang terdiri dari sejumlah perilaku dari jenis yang lebih khusus.

Klasifikasi dari Moyer

Moyer (1968)[1] menyajikan klasifikasi awal berupa tujuh bentuk agresi, dari sudut pandang biologis dan evolusi.

  1. Agresi pemangsa: serangan terhadap mangsa oleh pemangsa.adfa
  2. Agresi antar jantan: kompetisi antara jantan dari spesies yang sama mengenai akses terhadap sumber tertentu seperti betina, dominansi, status, dsb.
  3. Agresi akibat takut: agresi yang dihubungkan dengan upaya menghindari ancaman.
  4. Agresi teritorial: mempertahankan suatu daerah teritorial dari para penyusup.
  5. Agresi maternal: agresi dari perempuan/betina untuk melindungi anaknya dari ancaman. Ada juga agresi paternal.
  6. Agresi instrumental: Agresi yang ditujukan untuk mencapai suatu tujuan. Agresi ini dianggap sebagai respon yang dipelajari terhadap suatu situasi.

Klasifikasi sekarang

Kini, ada konsensus dalam komunitas ilmiah untuk setidaknya dua kategori besar dari agresi, dikenal sebagai agresi afektif dan agresi instrumental.[2][3][4][5] Penelitian empiris mengindikasikan bahwa klasifikasi ini adalah perbedaan yang penting, baik secara psikologis atau fisiologis. Beberapa penelitian menunjukkan bahwa orang yang cenderung melakukan agresi afektif mempunyai IQ yang lebih rendah dibanding yang cenderung melakukan agresi instrumental.[2]

Evolusi agresi

Seperti kebanyakan perilaku lainnya, agresi dapat dilihat sebagai kemampuan yang bisa membantu binatang untuk selamat dan bereproduksi. Binatang menggunakan agresi untuk memperluas dan mempertahankan teritorial, termasuk berbagai sumber kehidupan lainnya seperti makanan, air, dan pasangan hidup. Peneliti telah berteori bahwa agresi dan kemampuan membunuh adalah hasil dari evolusi kita pada masa lalu.[6]

Agresi pada manusia

Walaupun manusia mirip dengan binatang dalam beberapa aspek dari agresi, tetapi ada perbedaan dalam kompleksitas dari agresinya akibat faktor kebudayaan, moral, dan situasi sosial. Sejumlah penelitian telah dilakukan dalam bidang ini. Alkohol, obat-obatan, rasa sakit dan ketidaknyamanan, frustrasi, dan umpatan dalam media massa hanyalah sebagian faktor yang berpengaruh terhadap agresi pada manusia.
