Agama di Myanmar
Myanmar (Burma) adalah negara multi-agama. Tidak ada agama resmi negara, tetapi pemerintah menunjukkan preferensi ekstrem untuk Buddha Theravada , agama mayoritas bangsa. Menurut sensus tahun 2014 dari pemerintah Burma, Buddha adalah agama dominan, dari 88% populasi, yang dipraktikkan terutama oleh orang Bamar , Rakhine , Shan , Mon , Karen , dan kelompok etnis Tionghoa . Orang Bamar juga mengamalkan agama rakyat Burmadengan nama agama Buddha. Konstitusi baru memberikan kebebasan beragama; namun, ia juga memberikan pengecualian luas yang memungkinkan rezim membatasi hak-hak ini sesuka hati. Etnis minoritas mempraktikkan agama Kristen (6,2%, terutama orang Chin , Kachin dan Karen ), Islam (4,3%, terutama Rohingya , Melayu , orang dari Yangon dan minoritas lainnya), dan Hindu (0,5%, terutama oleh orang Indian Burma) ).

Pemujaan Nat adalah hal biasa di Myanmar. Nat dinamai roh dan kuil dapat dilihat di seluruh negeri, baik berdiri sendiri, atau sebagai bagian dari kuil Buddha. Pemujaan Nat memiliki hubungan dengan agama Buddha Myanmar dan ada 37 nats yang diakui.
Buddhisme di Burma kebanyakan adalah tradisi Theravada, yang dipraktikan oleh 89% penduduk di negara tersebut[1][2] Negara tersebut merupakan negara Buddhis paling relijius dalam hal proporsi para biarawan dalam populasi dan proporsi pemasukan yang dijalankan pada agama.[3]
Kristen dipraktikan oleh 4% penduduk,[4] yang utamanya pada Kachin, Chin dan Kayin, dan Eurasia karena karya misionaris di wilayah-wilayah respektif mereka. Sekitar empat per lima orang Kristen di negara tersebut adalah Protestan, yang sebagian besar merupakan pengikut Gereja Baptis dari Konvensi Baptis Myanmar; Katolik Roma meliputi sisanya.
Hindu di Burma dipraktikan sekitar 840,000 orang.[5] Karena sensus yang tersedia tidak diambil di Burma sejak zaman kolonial, jumlahnya masih perkiraan. Kebanyakan Hindu di Myanmar adalah India Burma.
