Academy Awards ke-32 memberikan penghargaan kepada film-film yang dibuat pada 1959 pada 4 April 1960.

Drama epik tiga setengah jam buatan MGM (produser Sam Zimbalist) dan sutradara William Wyler Ben-Hur (dengan pertempuran laut yang spektakuler dan perlombaan kereta perang selama sebelas tahun yang dikoreografikan oleh Yakima Canutt) memenangkan 11 Oscar pada 1959, mengalahkan rekor tahun sebelumnya dengan sembilan penghargaan (Gigi (1958)). Dengan mengalahkan rekor tersebut, sebelas Oscar dimenangkan dari dua belas nominasi, film tersebut menjadi film yang paling banyak mendapatkan penghargaan dalam sejarah Academy Award sampai Titanic dan The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King masing-masing pada 1997 dan 2003.

Ben-Hur adalah pembuatan ulang dari film bisu 1926 milik MGM dengan nama yang sama, dan film tersebut merupakan film paling ekspensif pada waktu itu, dengan biaya sebesar $15 juta. Kedua film tersebut berdasarkan pada atau terinspirasi dari novel Jenderal Lew Wallace (pertama kali diterbitkan pada 1880) mengenai kebangkitan Kristen.

Ben-Hur juga menjadi film ketiga yang memenangkan penghargaan Aktor Terbaik dan Aktor Pendukung Terbaik
