Kiai Haji Abdullah Wasi'an (9 Juni 1917 – 16 Februari 2011^[1]) merupakan seorang ustad, pengajar dan pakar Kristologi asal Indonesia.^[2]

Profil

Sejak 1936, saat berusia 19 tahun, Abdullah Wasi’an telah aktif berorganisasi. Dia memulainya lewat Pemuda Muhammadiyah di Surabaya. Sebagai anggota tim bagian pendidikan, dia bertugas mengurusi Taman Pustaka Pemuda Muhammadiyah, sebuah perpustakaan yang koleksi buku-bukunya cukup lengkap saat itu. Posisi itu sangat menyenangkan hatinya karena sebagai pecinta ilmu dia bisa leluasa membaca sepuas-puasnya.

Keterlibatannya di Pemuda Muhammadiyah adalah awal debutnya di dunia dakwah. Di dalamnya dia mendapatkan pengalaman berorganisasi, berceramah, dan berdebat. Dalam waktu singkat dia ditunjuk sebagai muballigh Pemuda Muhammadiyah. Tugasnya, berceramah di sekolah-sekolah milik Muhammadiyah dan beberapa sekolah negeri. Lalu, pada 1950-an, Abdullah Wasi’an ditetapkan sebagai Pengurus Muhammadiyah Surabaya, di Majelis Tabligh.

Abdullah Wasi’an terbilang tak sengaja menjadi Kristolog. Waktu itu, Kristologi masih langka. Kristologi tak dia dapatkan dari pendidikan formal, tetapi secara otodidak. Tentang hal ini, berbeda dengan zaman sekarang, Kini, Kristologi adalah mata kuliah yang bisa didapatkan pada Fakultas Ushuluddin di Perguruan Tinggi Islam.

Singkat cerita, lewat usaha yang tekun, penguasaan Abdullah Wasi’an terhadap Kristologi begitu mendalam. Ia sangat banyak hafal isi Alkitab dan bahkan bisa memahaminya dengan baik. Oleh karena itu, dia seorang Kristolog yang disegani dan juga dihormati oleh para pendeta maupun tokoh Kristen. Berbekal ilmu Kristologi itu, cukup panjang pengalaman Abdullah Wasi’an berdebat dengan banyak pendeta atau tokoh Kristen.^[3]
