2005 DARPA Grand Challenge

2005 DARPA Grand Challenge adalah sebuah perlombaan antara robot otonomi yang diadakan pada 8 Oktober 2005 di Gurun Mojave dengan rute sepanjang 132.2 mil. DARPA menjanjikan hadian US$2 juta (sekitar 20 miliar rupiah) kepada mobil tercepat kurang dari sepuluh jam. Hadiah ini digandakan setelah 2004 Grand Challenge, di mana tidak ada mobil yang lewat kualifikasi.

Setiap robot mulai dengan waktu yang berbeda dan ditunda untuk beberapa masalah. Hadiah $2 juta dolar tersebut dimenangkan oleh mobil Stanley dari Universitas Stanford, dengan waktu tempuh 6 jam 53 menit dan 8 detik dengan kecepatan rata-rata 19,1 mpj.

Kualifikasi

Dari 195 pendaftar, 43 tim dipilih untuk berpartisipasi dalam "National Qualification Event". National Qualification Event (NQE) ini diadakan di California Speedway di Fontana, California dari 27 September sampai 5 Oktober. Hasil dari NQE ini memotong 43 tim menjadi 23 tim.
